How to Measure Your Doors & Drawer Fronts

Ordering replacement doors? Measure your OLD door or drawer front — not the cabinet opening — and we’ll make your new ones to match. All you need is a tape measure.

What You Need
The Three Golden Rules
Measuring a Door
WIDTH HINGES HEIGHT
Measuring a Drawer Front
WIDTH HEIGHT
Which Side Are Your Hinges On?

Stand in front of the closed door. If the hinges are on the left, the door is left-hinged; if they’re on the right, it’s right-hinged.

Also count how many hinges (hinge holes) each door has — the order form asks for the number of hinge holes. For a pair of doors on one cabinet, measure and note each door separately, with its own hinge side.

Where Are the Hinge Holes?

If you’re reusing your current hinges, measure from the top edge of the door down to the CENTER of the top hinge hole, and from the bottom edge up to the CENTER of the bottom hinge hole. Include both measurements with your order, and the new holes will land in exactly the same spots.

If you’re ordering new hinges, there’s no need to measure this — new hinges are drilled to the standard 4" center.

TOP EDGE TO CENTER BOTTOM TO CENTER Always measure to the center of the hole — not to its edge.
Double-Check Before You Order
Not sure about a size? Send us a photo of your tape measure on the door — we’d rather check than have you guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you order. Anything else — call (226) 345-4865 or email Golanchkyle04@hotmail.ca.

Do you paint or stain the doors?

No. Every door and drawer front is supplied raw and unfinished — sanded, with hinge holes bored, and ready for paint or stain by you or your painter. This keeps your cost down and lets you match your exact colour.

How does ordering work?

Four easy steps: (1) pick your door style and material, (2) enter your sizes in the Order Portal — down to the 1/16" — and add each item to your cut-list, (3) check out with your contact details; your order is emailed directly to KG Kitchens, and (4) we review it and contact you to confirm everything before building.

How is the price calculated?

The Order Portal shows a live estimate as you build each item — it is based on the item's size, style, material, quantity, and any hardware you add. When we review your submitted order we confirm the final price with you before anything is built, so there are no surprises.

What styles and materials can I choose from?

Three door styles: Straight Shaker (90° square profile), Bevel Shaker (45° sloped profile), and Flat Slab. Shaker doors come in paint-grade maple/MDF, solid maple, red oak or white oak, or MDF. We also make dovetail solid maple drawer boxes and supply Salice hinges, plates and soft-close slides.

Do the doors come with hinge holes?

Yes — hinge cup boring is available at $5.00 per hole (just enter the number of holes in the portal), and we can supply the matching Salice hinges and mounting plates so everything arrives ready to hang.

What areas do you serve, and is delivery available?

We serve Windsor, Essex County, LaSalle and Amherstburg, Ontario. Pickup is free at our Amherstburg shop. Delivery is available for a fee that depends on your area — it is confirmed when we review your order.

I'm a contractor or a DIYer — can I order?

Absolutely. We build for contractors and cabinet makers, DIYers, and homeowners. Contractors: order exact cut-lists for your jobs, raw and ready for your finishing process.

How long will my order take?

Timing depends on the size and complexity of the order. When we review your order and contact you to confirm, we'll give you a clear timeline before you commit.

How do I pay? Is there a deposit?

Yes — because every order is custom-made to your sizes, we require a 50% deposit once your order is reviewed and the final price is confirmed. We accept Interac e-Transfer (to Golanchkyle04@hotmail.ca) or cash. Production starts when the deposit is received, and the balance is due on pickup — or before delivery, if you choose delivery. Your deposit goes toward your materials and is non-refundable once cutting has begun. The prices shown are the full price — no HST is charged (we're a small local business).
